Rosemary O'Carroll - Harpist

Rosemary began her harp studies with Huw Jones (Principal Harp, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra). She has also studied with Alice Chalifoux (the Salzedo School, Maine and the Cleveland Institute of Music) and Jeanne Chalifoux (Virginia, USA).

As a freelance musician she has performed with symphony orchestras, ballet and opera productions, and chamber ensembles - including the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, the Royal Ballet (Australian Tour), and the Opera Ensemble.

She has also had success in the popular field, performing in commercial recording sessions for television, and on national theatre productions such as 42nd street, Seven Little Australians, and Jerry's Girls.

With a commitment to introducing the harp to new audiences, she has taken part in composer workshops, new music initiatives, and community based arts projects. She also teaches harp privately and often performs in schools.

Rosemary currently lives in Southern Tasmania, with her husband John.
